A chapter of Prescott?s history came to a close with the death of Alpheus Lambert Favour (A.L. Favour) on January 12, 2008 in Prescott. Born November 6, 1914 in Kenton, Ohio. Al lived his entire life in Prescott from infancy to his death 93 years later. He had many fond childhood memories of growing up in Prescott: the family home on Mt. Vernon Street; Washington Elementary School; Boy Scout Troop 1; and Prescott High School (Class of 1932). He continued as an active member of the State Bar of Arizona for 65 years. He served in both Houses of the Arizona Legislature where he was instrumental in passing Water Rights and Right to Work legislation which still stands today. During his lifetime he also pursued a love of livestock ranching. As owner of the Bar Cross Outfit he expanded into farming and feed lot operations in California and Arizona. As a member of Yavapai Cattle Growers Association he served in several leadership positions. The first Captain of Yavapai County Mounted Sheriff?s Posse, Al was the last remaining Charter Member. A member of the Masonic Atzlan Lodge #1 Al served various State and National Masonic affiliates.
