Alma Len Peterson, US Air Force, retired, passed away Thursday July 12. 2012. He was born in Burley, Idaho on January 20, 1928. Lenny retired to Ash Fork, Arizona in 1990 with the love of his life, Trudy, who preceded him in death in 2003. Lenny served his country, first in the Army and then the Air Force, in a specialized and highly classified field. He was deployed throughout the world, including Germany, Bermuda, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and England. He was the recipient of many medals including The Bronze Star, awarded for “heroic or meritorious achievement or service, The Air Force Commendation Medal, presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service, The Medal of Humane Action, several Presidential Unit Citations as well as numerous others. , He accomplished much in his life, attending college for Landscape Architecture as a young man and later graduating from Dental School after retiring from the military. .He will be forever loved and remembered by his daughter, Marion Davis, sons, Mark Peterson and Michael Peterson, his 5 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by his good friends in Ash Fork, many becoming like an “extended family”. He was especially fond of Laura and Pam who cared for him so lovingly during the years of his illness. A member of the American Legion, he will be remembered by all for his generosity and his wonderful smile. “Time moves on – the moment passes. The window of opportunity is closed forever. Prayer is a talk with God. Nothing lies beyond the realm of prayer, except that which lies outside the will of God. A memorial service will be held at the Ash Fork American Legion Post 57 on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at 5 PM. Grave site service will be announced at a later date.
