Allen C. Jaekel, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on September 19, 2021, in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
He was born on February 9th, 1959, in Oceanside, CA and was the eldest son to Don and Vincie. He was a graduate of Big Bear High. After Highschool he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, Montana where he met his wife and best friend, Lawren Jones. They married in October of 1978 and welcomed their son, Eric.
Lawren and Allen completed their tours in the Air Force and moved to Cypress, CA. Lawren began her career as a teacher and Allen began his career as a police officer. They welcomed their two daughters, Kristen and Tamara, in the following years. Allen began his career as patrol officer for the Long Beach Police Department in 1982, and then with Riverside Police Department in 1990. During his time in Riverside, Allen pursued his dreams of becoming a K-9 handler and worked side-by-side his two K-9 partners, Brit and Rowan. Allen served and protected the communities of Long Beach and Riverside for over 28 years. Allen achieved numerous awards as a patrol officer and as a K-9 handler. He served with dignity, respect, and courage. He was a leader among his colleagues and mentor to those he trained. He loved being a police officer and served with integrity and humility.
As a father, Allen fully emersed himself into his children’s lives. His passion for sports shined through with his unwavering dedication to Little League Baseball for his son, serving as board president and teaming with other parents in the building and renovation of numerous baseball fields. He was easily spotted on the pool deck for his daughters’ swim meets with a note pad and a stopwatch. As a team, Allen and Lawren would attend their children’s sporting events to support them. This routine carried into their lives as grandparents, cheering on their grandkids in football, soccer, volleyball, and baseball. Allen was his grandkids’ number one fan – attending every sporting event he could. He was so proud of them.
Allen retired from Riverside Police Department in 2010 and he began the retirement life with Lawren. Together, they celebrated the accomplishments of their children and grandchildren over the next eleven years. They enjoyed camping trips, going to concerts, dancing, wine tasting, hanging by their pool, cheering for the Rams, and above all else, spending time with their family. Earlier this year, Allen and Lawren moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona to continue their retirement journey. Unfortunately, Allen fell ill to the COVID-19 virus and suffered severe complications. His family was by his side until the very end.
Allen is survived by his best friend and wife of 43 years, Lawren; his is three children, Eric, Kristen, and Tamara; his four grandchildren, Cody, Kaylin, Kylee, and Colt; his mother Vincie, his brothers Mark and Steve; several nieces and nephews, and an abundance of great friends.
In lieu of flowers, Allen’s children will be coordinating efforts for donations to purchase a new police canine for the Riverside Police Department in Allen’s honor. More information will be available on their respective social media pages.
Graveside Services and Honors will be held on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021, at 1:30PM at Riverside National Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance may be limited. You may reach out to the family for additional information.
