Allan was raised up in a time when you didn’t sass your parents, you were home for dinner and in for the night by dark. He was born in Detroit MI. January 1St, 1943 and raised in Dearborn MI., a suburb of Detroit. He graduated from Edsel Ford High School. He was on the swim team, delivered the Detroit Times Newspaper, leaving home at 18 to enlist in the Navy where he served in San Diego as a corpsman. He graduated from Cal State University Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Allan pursued his career working for four different newspapers. He worked the early years as a reporter, and in advertising. He switched career fields and entered retail sales and service, for several different companies. He married Judith June 29th, 1969. He and Judy raised their children in San Diego from 1970 to 1992, when his job required a move to Arizona. He always called his home their little cabin in the woods referring to beautiful Prescott. He is survived by Judy his wife, his four sons, Marc, Greg, Pat and Mike and his daughter Alyssa and their spouses, eleven grandchildren, and his brother, Dennis Eddolls and family. Allan enjoyed creating radio controlled models out of wood, including boats and cars. He really enjoyed being on the road for work. Though he was not musical himself, he encouraged his kids to be involved in music and was always enthralled by the amazing gift of music that his kids naturally possessed. Allan will be remembered as a man full of joy for his family, friends, neighbors and even complete strangers. He humbly wrote these words to his children in October 2013 just seven months before his passing. Thoughts for my sons… As time marches on, this ol’ man of yours has been thinking about all of you. While I was out “doin’ rocks” (actually, gravel this time, shoveling and sifting), I was reflecting on the great parents you’ve become, in spite of the lack of Christian example by me. Luckily, you got the basics from your mother, whose deep faith was, I believe, an example, the “seed,” of Christian morality for you all. I particularly want to commend you, Marc, Greg and Pat, for the Godly way you’ve raised your families, emphasizing the “heart” rather than the narrow confines of the “law.” Greg, when you and your family were living with us, I saw the power of the Lord in your children’s upbringing. Dori has been the driving force in their daily lives, executing your jointly developed Christian ways. Pat, you and Heather, living the Lord’s way, have been wonderful role models for your kids. You’ve included them as participants, rather than subjects, in the family life. Marc, your gentle loving wife Julie has helped you develop the way of the Lord in your household. Your girls are good examples of good, Christian parenting. Mike, I hope you will take your brothers’ examples for family life with your children, so young at this point. Your joy in their lives is evident, and Melissa and you have a great start. The Lord has blessed you abundantly. You’ve all been good role models, both in the negative and positive, for your sister. Alyssa has seen the worst and the best from Greg and Pat, the stability in Marc and inspiration (as well as some pretty stern guidance) from Mike. She is a good Christian woman, who, when she has children, will be another great role model for them. As I’ve said many times these past few years, the joy of parenting is to see your children grow up, be good citizens (and patriots!) and become parents themselves. In my vision, the awesome power of Jesus Christ wasn’t a large part, much to my regret today. It greatly adds to my pleasure to see these grandchildren growing to be Disciples of Christ. …just a few thoughts from the ol’ man… Just an insight on where he was in his walk. He never claimed to be a great spiritual leader but in the end we all realized he was an absolutely amazing father, faithful husband and a brother in Christ. He was taken unexpectedly and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
