Alfredo R. Ocampo, 77, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center in Ft. Mohave, Arizona. He was born January 10, 1927, in Clarkdale, Arizona, the son of Miguel and Mercedes (Reynoso) Ocampo. Alfredo served his country during the Second World War and was wounded in the invasion of Okinawa. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, two Purple Hearts, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Alfredo met and later married the love of his life, Amelia Duran, on May 31, 1952, and shared 52 loving years together. The couple moved to Prescott in 1986 from California. Alfredo was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Bullhead City. He was an avid reader who enjoyed singing and talking, he also enjoyed being outdoors and loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alfredo was proud of his WWII service in the 17th Infantry. Alfredo is survived by his loving and caring wife Amelia of Ft. Mohave where the couple recently moved to; his children and their spouses, Al and Laurie Ocampo of Tucson, Edna and Paul Larson of Avondale Estates, Georgia, and Jim and Melodie Ocampo of Ft. Mohave, Arizona; brother, Mike Ocampo of Woodlake, California; and sisters, Esperanza Rodriquez of Upland, California, Consuelo Blommer of Bisbee, Arizona, Josie Villanueva of Pinon Hills, California, Sally Sanchez of Prescott Valley, and Dora Rapp of Hacienda Heights, California. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Aaron, Naomi, Damien, Simon, Hannah, Rachel, Veronica, Sean, Benjamin, Nicholas and Christopher and his great grandchildren; Godfrey, Elijah, Kateri, Marysa, and Jadyn. Alfredo was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Celia and Gloria and a brother, Ruben. Visitation will be held Friday, December 10, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. with a Scripture Rosary service at 4 p.m. at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton Sts., Prescott. A celebration of Alfredo?s life Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Scared Heart Catholic Church 150 Fleury St., Prescott at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004, with Rev. Richard DeTore, C.M.F. presiding. Final Commendation and Farewell will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2004, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix, with full military honors. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
