Alan Chester Carlow passed away on June 28, 2024 at age 76. Al was born to his parents, Chester and Helen, on August 14, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. He also lived in North Carolina, Colorado, and California, before spending his last 18 years as a resident of Prescott, Arizona.
Al graduated with both bachelor's and master's degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit. He worked in a variety of industries in various executive positions throughout his career. He was also proud to have served in the United States Army Reserve.
Al had an unquenchable appetite for life. He was always hyper-intelligent, enthusiastic, and energetic. Even after retirement he remained active and engaged, teaching at the college level while actively advising startup clients in small business development. He was very community minded and devoted several years as a member of the Prescott City Council.
Al was relentlessly driven, and he devoted his full attention to whatever he was doing, always with ambitious plans on what to do next. He traveled extensively with both domestic and international trips. As a forever weekend warrior, he balanced that with many less traditional excursions including exotic scuba-diving, big-game hunting, white water rafting, mountain trekking, and other adventure trips.
Al leaves behind many who will profoundly miss him, certainly Loretta, his wife of 44 years, and Loretta's siblings, Paul (Nancy) Maitre, Jackie (Bob) Szymanski, and Pierre (Connie) Maitre. He also leaves loving nieces and a nephew, and many very close personal friends, who will cherish his memory forever.
A memorial service is planned for 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at QuadCity Christian Church at 501 South Senator Highway, Prescott, AZ.
