Robert E. (Bob) Meyer, 90, died September 13, in Prescott, Arizona.
Bob was born June 20,1928 in San Francisco, California where he was raised by Herman and Mildred Meyer.
Bob was a professional Engineer and worked 29 years for the California Division of Highways. He then spent 6 years as a Consulting Engineer. He was a Fellow in the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Bob was a Mason in a San Francisco Lodge from 1950 until 2002 when he transferred to Aztlan Lodge #1 in Prescott. He was also active in both church and volunteer work for most of his adult life. Bob was involved from 1963 to 1976 in the State Credit Union in Fresno California where he served first on the Credit Committee and then the Board of Directors where he served as President. He also served as President of two Home Owners Associations in Fresno, California, and one in Honolulu as Treasurer. He was President of the Fresno Area Council of Churches Board of Trustees and Vice Chair of the Combined Health Appeal in Fresno.
Bob was active in the Episcopal Church for 58 years. He was first licensed as a Lay Reader in 1958 in the Diocese of San Joaquin in California. He was later licensed as a Lay Eucharistic Minister in that diocese. He was license as a Lay Eucharistic Minister in the Diocese of Hawaii in 1989 and in the Diocese of Arizona in1977, Bob served on the Vestry of St. Columba’s Church in Fresno ending as Senior Warden in 1964 and on the Vestry of St. Luke’s Church in Prescott.
Bob is listed in the 16th Edition of Marquis Who’s Who in the West and the 14th Edition of the Historical Society Who’s Who in California.
Bob and Evalyn, his late wife of 52 years moved to Arizona to be near their family. In 2001, he married Sarah L. (Grylls) Hoover. He and Sarah founded the pre-school at St. Luke’s Church and both continued to be active in church affairs.
Survivors include his wife Sarah, his son Mark and daughter-in-law Barbara of Glendale, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or St. Luke’s Church Memorial Fund.
