Mary Alda Mcfeely

Mary Alda McFeely was born on March 24, 1930 and passed away on January 4, 2018.

She is survived by her three daughters: Christi Cruikshank of San Diego, California, Laurie Brown of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Sharon McFeely from Prescott, Arizona. She is also survived by 7 nephews, 6 nieces, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Edith Case, by her brother Harry Case and her grandson, Eric Ellenwood.

For the last 16 years she had lived in the Southwest United States; San Diego, Califonia and the Prescott area of Arizona. For many years she lived with her daughters: Laurie Brown and Sharon McFeely. For the past 6 years she lived at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Seventeen years ago Mary suffered a debilitating stroke that even after much remediation left her with significant physical impairments and loss of speech. Over these many years, Mary developed remarkable gifts to communicate with those around her. She developed strong warmth of heart and reached out to others in need. She continued to develop many friendships. Mary had a good sense of humor. She continued to strive for independence of spirit, and as much autonomy as was possible. She was a good listener and was always very aware of her environment. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to movies, shopping, being out in nature, gardening, going out for drives in the country, she participated in religious services and bible study. She enjoyed reading and being read to. Mary persevered though many obstacles in life, she developed a strong resiliency that we sense is serving her in spirit.

A Memorial service will be held in Prescott Arizona on Sunday, January 21, 2018 and another service will be held in Wauconda, Illinois in May 2018.
