Kenneth W. Gilliland 86, of Chino Valley, AZ passed away December 4th, 2011. He was born in Fort Thomas, AZ on September 18, 1925. Ken was an Army veteran and served in Japan. He moved to Prescott with his wife, Maxine and children in 1961. He worked for El Paso Natural for 19 years prior to moving to Prescott. He owned and operated a Richfield gas station. He then worked as a mobile salesman for Bowes for 6 years. He owned and operated Village Cleaners along with his wife. He retired from the cleaners and pursued race horse training at the age of 55. In his later years he moved back and forth from Duncan, AZ and Prescott until Maxines illness required more care and then moved to Chino Valley with their youngest daughter Connie Hickman and her husband, Perry. His wife Maxine proceded him in death. He is survived by his children, R. Kay Richardson of North Carolina, Judy (Don) Lough of Phoenix, AZ, Rick Gilliland of Prescott, AZ and Connie (Perry) Hickman of Chino Valley, AZ. One brother John (Eunice) Gilliland and two brother-in-laws, Bill Stephens of Central AZ and Thomas Elms of Duncan, AZ. Nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial in his honor will be held at his daughters home in Phoenix on January 7th, 2012 at 12:00 pm. Please contact Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home at 928-445-2221 or Connie Hickman for directions.
