Joseph Omer Eisenman

Joseph ‘Joe’ Eisenman Born January 1, 1931 in Marty, SD. Went to heaven on November 4, 2012. Survived by his wife, Helen ‘Rockie’ Eisenman, their four children; Theresa Ekin (Tom), Cynthia Aab (Allen), Eric Eisenman(Desta), and Elizabeth Pelletier (Andre). Four Grandchildren Noah Eisenman, Sarah Smith (Tyler), Aaron Aab and Cody Aab. A sister, Mary Elizabeth Eisenman Carson. He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard J., Sr. and Josephine Eisenman, a sister, Angela and brothers Edward and Leonard, Jr. Eisenman. Joe served in the Army, 59th Military Police Co. during the Korean War. And was a lifetime member of the VFW. Joe was a very religious man, dedicated to the love of Christ. Joe was a Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the BPO Elks. Joe was a sponsor for Catholic Confirmation for nephew Fr. John Sauter and two of his grandsons. Joe was born and raised at St. Paul’s Indian Mission at Marty, South Dakota which was built by his uncle Rev. Sylvester Eisenman, O.S.B. His father, Leonard J. Eisenman was the construction engineer and operations manager of the Mission. Joe grew up with his father learning how to build, drive trucks and tractors and gaining mechanical knowledge. He also learned how to live in the way of the Lord. He attended school at St. Paul’s Indian Mission at Marty, attended St Meinrad Seminary for 2 years and later completed 2 years of study at Colorado A & M (Now Colorado State University). Joe was a truck driver from the 1940’s and 1950’s. He worked with his brothers trucking across the nation. In January of 1955 he met Helen ’Rockie’ Foster in Greeley, CO. They were married in May of 1955 and had a beautiful marriage and friendship for the next 57 ½ years. Joe and Rockie lived in several states until 1963 when Joe and Rockie and their family moved to Flagstaff, Arizona. Joe began selling big rig trucks for International Harvester in Tucson and then for White Trucks in Phoenix where they settled for the next 25 years. They raised their family of four children in the north Phoenix area. All of the children attended universities in Arizona. Joe continued in the trucking business moving into sales of semi-trailers for Fruehauf Corporation. With a culmination of his tremendous experience in trucking he and Rockie became entrepreneurs and opened their business ‘Sticker Patch Trailer Sales’ in Phoenix, AZ. Over the next 10 years they grew that business into one of the largest storage trailer rental business in the state. Eric, their son, worked in the business in the early 1980’s. In 1992 they sold the business and retired to Prescott, AZ where they enjoyed retirement. In retirement, Joe never quit driving. He and Rockie were members of the Sun Country Roadrunners, FMCA Motor Coach Assoc., The Elks RV Club and the Discovery Motor Home Club. Through these associations they met many new friends and were able to travel across North America throughout the United States, Canada, Alaska and Mexico. Joe could figure the travel distance and times to and from just about any place in the USA. Joe never stopped being that curios kid, always asking questions about how things work. His dad used to say to him; ”Joey, when we get to Heaven we will know all of the answers.” He often told of that when he wondered about how God made everything work just right. He could figure out how to fix just about everything under the sun. When in business, the other trailer dealers would joke and say, “Well, let’s just sticker patch that and it will work” referring to Joe’s business. The business was built on integrity and good will. As a Grandpa, Joe loved his four grandchildren and was always interested in their activities and lives. He provided a true guiding light for them all. Joe will be missed by so many. God rest his soul.
