Arthur Harold Brown

Arthur (Art) Harold Brown, age 94 passed peacefully on November 2, 2021 in Prescott, AZ.  Son of Harold Eugene Brown and Emmaline Conrad Brown, he was the youngest of seven siblings reared on the family’s farms.  Following his service in the US Army in Adak, Alaska, he married Kathleen Ruth Smith (passed July 21, 2021).  They resided primarily in Missouri and Kansas where they reared three children by whom they are survived:  Harold, Robert and Nancy (Brown) Christopherson.  He worked with Chevrolet and eventually became an automobile dealer for Chevrolet and other brands.  In later years they resided in Colorado and Arizona where he often reflected that he never once had to apply for a job, but that he was always recruited to the next challenge based upon his reputation.  He was immensely grateful for the opportunities that were presented to him.

Always a deacon in the churches they attended, he was a tireless fund raiser and devoted contributor.  In later years he was a member of Sun Lakes United Methodist Church.  Active in the Rotary Club, he particularly championed the support of individuals fleeing political oppression in other countries.  An avid golfer, he played almost daily into his late eighties.

Art was the glue that held his extended family together, always taking time to be sure his children knew all their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Family vacations throughout the western states gave his children up-close encounters with America’s natural wonders.  His exceptional kindness and generosity to all people was his most outstanding feature.  We have often been told he was the single most influential person in the lives and success of those he encountered.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Stepping Stones of Prescott Valley.
